Over 30 people came to the assistance of Bert Lathrop as she struggles to win her battle with breast cancer. An employee of the Bill Marsh Operations Department, Lathrop has undergone surgery and treatment for cancer and is now in recovery. She hopes to return to work early next month.
A golf outing was held earlier this month as a fundraiser to support Bert at A-Ga-Ming golf course on Torch Lake. Golfers battled wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour that occasionally knocked over balls from the tee. “This was a case where people didn’t care about the weather, but came out to support Bert,” says organizer Ron Smith.
Bert asked to release a letter to thank those who have supported her and her family.
This letter goes out to all the Bill Marsh Employees, and friends of employees, who have helped our family out.
It truly is amazing what the Auto Group, and close friends have done for myself and family. From the golf outing, to purchasing Team Bert T-shirts, or a simple pink bracelet. Not to mention the amount of delicious meals that have been delivered to our home.
I always knew the chance of getting Breast Cancer was a very high probability as my mom was diagnosed at 44 and also lost her breast. I just did not honestly think it would happen to me.
With all the love and support my family has gotten from not just family members, dear close friends, and the family I have at the Auto Group, it has really been a huge support system, that I know I will tackle this with no problem. I did not get to make it for the hunting season, but as well as I am progressing, hopefully will make it for the Ice fishing season.
My family and myself, just wanted to once again Thank everyone of you for all of your support,
prayers, emails, short visits. All of your support, has given us all the strength to get thru this.
With all our Love and God Bless you all
Bert Lathrop and Family
