Over 100 students will hit the stage and perform in the pit when Aida begins its run on February 24th and runs through March 11th. Tickets can be purchased at the high school box office or by calling the office at 231-933-7509.
Aida premiered on Broadway in 2000 and won four Tony Awards, including Best Musical Score. “AIDA is the achievement of one of the most powerful creative teams in the music industry-Elton John and Tim Rice-who wrote the lyrics and music for The Lion Kin,” says WHS Choral Director, Russ Larimer. “It’s a challenging musical score with an energizing rock/gospel kind of feel-one on which our musicians are vocally and instrumentally well prepared to deliver.”
The story line of AIDA travels from present time to Egypt during the time of the Pharaohs. It is a tale of love, betrayal, friendship, lust for power, mercy and redemption. WHS last produced the play in 2005.
Box office hours are Monday through Friday 11 am – 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Find out more at http://www.tcwestmusical.com/
