Up To $4,500 Available Through Cash For Clunkers Program

A $1-billion government program will give new car buyers up to $4,500 toward their next purchase. The U.S. Department of Transportation is expected to announce the details of the new program within days. Information about the program are currently available at www.BillMarsh.com.

Congress recently approved the Cash for Clunkers program and earmarked $1-billion to pay for the program. Car dealers are waiting for the Department of Transportation to announce the regulations before they begin applying for the federal funds—but those regulations are expected within days.

The program is designed to spur new car sales while taking gas-guzzling older vehicles off the road.

Consumers can receive up to $4,500 for their new car purchase. They must trade in an older vehicle that gets a combined 18-miles per gallon fuel economy, and purchase a new vehicle that gets at lease 22-miles per gallon. Those wishing to purchase a new truck or SUV must see an increase of at least two-miles-per gallon.

The federal cash is available in addition to all manufacturer incentives. Cash For Clunkers money and manufacturer incentives can result in savings of $7,000 or more toward a new vehicle.

“This is a unique opportunity for folks hoping to upgrade to a more fuel efficient new vehicle,” says Bill Marsh Jr. Marsh notes that qualifying for the program varies by the individual, so the Bill Marsh Auto Group has set up a Cash For Clunkers hotline that will help consumers through the federal program. The hotline is available at either 1-800-59-MARSH or through an online chatroom at www.BillMarsh.com.

Fuel-efficient cars such as Hyundai Elantras and Saturn Auras do qualify for the program and Bill Marsh currently has a good selection of those vehicles. Marsh notes that many customers have already pre-purchased their cars and are just waiting for the federal regulations to be finalized.
